Route description
CYCLE ROUTE overview: 1200kms Audax through the Western Cape!
Controls & validation
Control points will be at the following towns as indicated on the GPS file. First prize is to have your brevet card signed/stamped from a vender in town; alternatively you may use a till slip or ATM receipt to prove your passage; or a selfie with you and your bike in front of a prominent and visible part of town. There may also be secret controls along the route. Bout the controls are designed in such a way that there will be no benefit or even and alternative tar road to get from points A to B in-between controls.
Drop bag details
Yes, there will be drops bags. You can hand in your two small drop bags (like the PBP or LEL sized small sling bags) at the start for them to be available at the overnight stops in CERES (after approx 490km) and VELDDRIF (after approx 920km). Given that the drop bags are roughly 500km and 900km into the route, it would make the splits 500/400/300kms. And the drop bags are completely optional, you don’t need to make use of them.
